My name is Amanda White and I am the new third grade teacher in Room 227 at the Burke-Memorial School in Medway! I currently live in Franklin, just around the corner. Outside of school I am a Boston sports fan, but I love hockey the most. I also enjoy arts and crafts. You'll quickly learn that I love to draw and will see a little bit of my love for art displayed in your new classroom. I also enjoy going to the movies, running, photography, reading and traveling. This summer I went Italy with my family. Finally, I am a HUGE Disney fan. This winter I will be running my first half marathon in Disney World!
My background & teaching experience... This will be my third year teaching and my first year here at Memorial School in Medway. Prior to joining the Medway community, I attended Stonehill College and received my Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education and American Studies. While at Stonehill College I completed several student teaching opportunities in a variety of grades and communities. I student taught 1st, 2nd and 5th grade in Brockton, MA and then went on to complete my full-time practicum in 2nd grade in Canton, MA. Shortly after graduating from Stonehill, I attended Lesley University where I received my Masters Degree in Literacy for K-8 Classroom Teachers. Simultaneously, I began working as a 1st grade paraprofessional in Brookline, MA. From there I got a position teaching 3rd grade in Brookline and most recently taught 2nd grade in Brookline, as well. I am over the moon about returning to third grade and planting my roots here in the Medway community.
I love third grade, as it is a very exciting year to teach and watch students grow. Students are finally beginning to shift from "learning to read" to "reading to learn" and BOY do we learn a LOT! I cannot wait to begin this new chapter with a new group of students and look forward to a fantastic year of learning, growing and thriving together!
Please feel free to contact me by email anytime. All my best, Ms. White
